During the initial session a detailed case history is taken to ascertain that treatment will be suitable. Following this clinical examination involving the analysis of body patterns and identification of areas of restriction and weakness is carried out.
Lily and Ratna use a variety of manual treatment techniques including deep tissue manipulation, mobilization, harmonics (a passive rhythmical mobilization), acupuncture and cranial osteopathy. Cranial osteopathy is a very gentle form of treatment that is safe for children and babies and used to treat the whole body. Additional advice on hydrotherapy, exercises and nutrition might be given. This unique treatment is tailored to suit each individual. The result is a reduction in pain and inflammation, an increase in mobility and co-ordination, and a balance of strength and total well-being.
Treatment is suitable for all age groups for a variety of conditions such as back pain, sporting injuries, rehabilitation, headaches, stress, conditions relating to pregnancy, arthritis, respiratory and abdominal conditions. As some conditions can be related to the workplace Osteopaths also offer postural and ergonomic advice. The amount of treatment that a patient will require is dependent upon his or her characteristics.
Lily Jukic and Ratna Vohora are fully qualified and registered Osteopaths.
Osteopathy is an established system of clinical diagnosis and manual treatment recognized by the British Medical Association. BUPA, PPP and other health insurance covers are accepted.
OSTEOPATHY AND PILATES
These two treatments can be experienced separately. The concept of combination work is totally unique to the Vitality Centre. The impact is a quicker and more effective way of rebalancing and strengthening the body.
An initial session with the Osteopath allows for body patterns to be analysed and areas of restriction and weakness to be identified. The treatment could include a combination of deep tissue massage, mobilisation, harmonics, dry needling and cranial Osteopathy. Advice can include hydrotherapy, exercises and nutrition.
A gyrotonic session can be taken directly after the osteopathic session or a few days later. One advantage of having a double session is that the body is already in a state of relaxation, the muscles have been worked and so prepared for deeper mobilisation work.
Gyrotonics allows you to approach the body through three dimensional, circular movement patterns and addresses the functional relationship of the entire body. Like Pilates it strengthens and stretches at the same time, re-educating and invigorating the body to move with fluidity, relaxation and power. It is difficult to describe the exercise, which you have on the two-piece machine (a pulley tower with weights and a bench piece) but the experience and profound effect it has must not be underestimated. It offers a wide range of benefits from increasing joint flexibility, improving circulation, promoting bone health, promoting an internal equilibrium and increasing general well being. It can also be used as a preventative measure strengthening the body and keeping it mobile reduces the risk of injury. After an injury or operation Gyrotonics can be used as part of a rehabilitation process. The gyrotonic work can encourage gradual sustained changes in breathing, posture abdominal strength and mobility.
