Ease away any tentsion and stress, with this wonderful head, neck and shoulder massage!

What is an Indian Head Massage?

An Indian Head Massage is a wonderful treatment, concentrating on shoulder, neck and head areas; relieving feelings of tension and stress. It soothes, comforts and rebalances the energy flow to produce a feeling of peace and tranquillity.

The treatment is based on the Ayurvedic healing system and has been enjoyed in India for thousands of years. The head is covered with a thin layer of muscle which tightens when we are tense, resulting in stiff neck and shoulders, headaches, feelings of anxiety, eyestrain, hair loss etc. By relaxing these muscles an Indian Head Massage can improve blood flow, alleviating these symptoms and others and relaxing your whole body.

Ratna is a qualified and Registered Osteopath. She completed her training at the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy. It was during her initial degree in Physiology at King’s College, London that Ratna felt that she wanted to explore a natural and holistic way of health and well being. This has always been an interest of hers as in the past she worked with numerous charities both in Kenya and England related to open heart surgery and HIV for example.

Ratna has trained with the Southerland Craniosacral Board and has been working with children with learning disabilities, autism and babies. She has also trained in dry needling with AAGH.

She assesses the posture of an individual, the way they walk, the movement of the joints and the function of their systems and nutritional status using diagnostic kinesiology. Her treatments include a combination of deep massage, mobilisation of the joints, manipulation, cranial osteopathy, nutritional, herbal and Kneippe hydrotherapy advice. She uses exercises based on yoga and Pilate’s to help stretch and strengthen key postural muscles. All of the above is tailored to the requirements of the individual.

Ratna has written nutritional articles for an Internet Company, appeared on Channel East TV as a Naturopath.

Ratna has specialised in pre and post natal care as well as having had experience working with midwives. This allows for care for mum’s from the start of their pregnancy, through out and then ratna works with babies. Some of the sessions can be tailored to teach partner’s how they can help treat their wife during pregnancy and assist during labour.

Jess works with a combination of variuos techniques to help each individual patient achieve what they need. The combination works allows Jess to work on a holistic level addressing the mind, physical body and spirit.

Jess has trained in Holistic Massage, Indian Head Massage, Reiki I and II and is a Reiki Master, Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), Spiritual Healing and Deep Tissue work.

For Jess the initial pert of each treatment is essential to dvelop a relationship with the patient and understand what it is that they need. With every treatment Jess aims to take her patient to a place of deep relaxation and peace and at the same time loosen their muscles and so release tension. If needed Jess uses the healing power of colour to focus energy into stagnant areas and help the patient relax.

Jess was inspired by treatment that she had received over the years – the profound effect they had on her is what made her want to learn and share with others.

Jess is a member of Independent Professional Therapists International.
