Carolyn has been exploring yoga since 1990 and teaches a hatha flow which combines elements of Iyengar, Ashtanga, Scarevelli and is influenced strongly by her Sivananda roots. In her yoga teaching she strives to promote a calm but dynamic energy through asanas and breath. She has been teaching since 1992 in Canada, the Caribbean, and London and continues to explore and study yoga. She is also a shiatsu therapist and has recently begun to explore Theta Healing as a modality.

She has recently returned from a 10 month trip, spending time at the Sivananda ashram in the Bahamas, going on to practice Ashtanga in the Andes, meeting a shaman in the Amazon Jungle and exploring her Christian roots in Israel, a place where major spiritual strands dynamically meet.

She is excited to be teaching at the Vitality Centre and looks forward to continued sharing of her love of yoga.

Bev first discovered Yoga in 2000, when she was looking to address
recurring injuries from rowing. After regular practice and with her recurring
injuries banished, she decided to study further and become a Yoga
teacher.
Bev trained with Tara Fraser (British Wheel of Yoga) and teaches a Hatha
style, gradually introducing you to a sequence of postures which come
together to form a flow. In addition, she always offers the opportunity to try
some more advanced postures, but without expectation or judgement. A
guided relaxation at the end of each class helps restore the body and
mind in preparation for the week ahead!

Bev’s style is relaxed and encouraging, with a focus on anatomy. She
aims to assist her students in discovering how their bodies can open and
stretch, helping them gain strength through a regular practice.
Bev has taught at the Vitality centre since November 2008.

Bev’s class is a beginners plus class on Mondays – 8-9pm (No booking re, drop in)

“I have been practicing yoga – and specifically Ashtanga Vinyasa – for the past 5 years, and continue to be inspired by the Ashtanga method, by my teachers, and the people I meet through my practice.

Wishing to pass on to others the yoga and practices I’ve learned so far, I trained and qualified as a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance , and am in further training for 500-hour certification with the Art of Contemporary Yoga School, which covers yoga therapy, as well as more therapeutic yoga teaching, philosophy and personal spiritual development. I have also completed a 40 hour Ashtanga Teacher Training course with David Swenson.

Having been fortunate to study with many world renowned teachers, including John Scott and David Williams, I continue to be guided in my daily Ashtanga practice by Gingi Lee, (www.theshala.co.uk) and Philippa Asher, (www.ashtangaphilippa.com).”

Annabel qualified in 1997 after a two year training with the Active Birth Centre to teach Antenatal and Post Natal Yoga and Childbirth Education. She also trained as a Birth Doula and UNICEF Breastfeeding Counselor. She has been involved in recent years with the founding of YogaBirth and the Teacher Training Courses they offer.

Her Antenatal Classes offer safe yoga practice and a wealth of knowledge around birth and motherhood due to her experience as a mother and doula over the past 20 years.

The Post Natal classes help restore core strength with gentle yoga postures and as part of the class there is an introduction to Baby massage which helps encourage mother to bond with her baby.

Annabel continues to increase her knowledge all the time through Continuous Professional Development and is a member of YogaBirth and Active Birth Associations and the Association of Independent Yoga Practitioners.

Pilates Equipment Studio Team
Dylan Elmore works Thursdays 6pm til 9pm

Dylan has had an extensive career in movement and dance, and brings his lifelong fascination with the body to his own practice as well as his teaching.

He first experienced Pilates whilst recovering from an injury sustained while dancing. On his return to dance he discovered that he was stronger than before, and working more efficiently.
This knowledge stayed with him and led him to train as a Pilates instructor with Body Arts and Science International.

From then, as part of his continuing exploration of the moving body, he went on to qualify as a Gyrotonic and Gyokinesis teacher.

Dylan teaches both privately and in studios around London, whilst continuing his career as a dancer.

“I have been learning pilates and gyrotonics with Dylan for several years. When I started I was suffering from chronic back pain that regularly flared up and restricted my movements. With gyrotonics in particular that has almost completely gone and I a fitter and more pain free than I have been for years. Dylan is a great teacher. He works you hard but always makes the class fun.” Deb Collins

This led to her discovery of pilates as a form of rehabilitation.

She qualified in 2003 with Pilates International in Melbourne and in 2004 she returned to London where she continued to participate in movement related courses including gyrotonics, the Franklin Method. Sarah’s broad background of movement techniques enable her to tailor an individual’s programme to a more specific rehabilitative Pilates approach.

Sarah is also currently studying VCTC Swedish massage and will be fully qualified in June.

“After having two knee replacments, Sarah has enabled me to resume a mornal life of walking and cycling. Her very professional approach to applying her skills in Pilates, together with her warm personality have been a great addition to our dertermination to stay active in our sevnties!” – Marcus Berns
